Products & Services: Insulation
We have seen a lot of changes in the industry over the past 30 years. Building codes for minimum insulation values have changed many times over the years as the costs of electricity, oil, natural gas and propane have increased.
In the 70's, we would blow a few inches of fiberglass in an attic and call it a day. Things are different today. Contractors can use rolled fiberglass batt insulation, cellulose (spray or blown), fiberglass (spray or blown), spray foam or rigid foam boards. Every product has its own pro's and con's.
We will go through your home and review the trouble spots unique to your home – then we will come up with a plan on addressing them using our experienced crews and state of the art machines. Many of our customers have large rebates and tax incentives available to them. We would be happy to review them with you.
Some of the areas that would be insulated include the following:
- Flat & sloped ceilings exposed to the cold
- Exterior walls
- Knee walls
- Crawlspaces
- Pipes or ducts
- Penetrations around pipes/wires/ducts, thermal by-pass at chimneys and pipe chases, along top plates of partitions and many more
We offer blower door and infra-red inspections.
Infra-red camera's allow us to "take pictures" of the envelope of your home. This machine will show areas of heat loss on your walls and ceilings without the need of making holes in the plaster.
Our blower door test allows us to detect where the drafts in your home or business originate. We mount a fan and digital unit into a door and de-pressurize the living space. This unit will then measure how much of the air infiltration problem you have. It will also show us where the air leaks are happening such as:
- Around doors and window
- Electric switches and receptacles
- Top plates of portions in attic
- Thermal by pass around chimneys or pipe chases
- Basement foundation
We can perform the tests again after the work is completed and quantify the results. Call us today to setup your complete energy audit.
